A Range Rover on Burbank and Sepulveda was real slick, going straight through from a turn lane. It’s, however, quite an illegal traffic maneuver.
Los Angeles commuter and Redditor /u/Jedesto shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier this February (Feb 13, 2025) near Sherman Oaks to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a bold idiot in a Range Rover bomb down a left turn-only lane-only to change lanes at the intersection, cutting traffic.
Check out their hare-brained maneuver embedded below with the Original Reddit Thread linked here.
The incident happened at the busy intersection of Sepulveda Blvd and Burbank Blvd (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s footage shows, a long line of cars in both directions can be seen stopped at the aforementioned intersection.
Up ahead, you can make out a driver in a white Range Rover bomb down the left turn lane as it’s open, no car making a turn.
The one car in the left turn lane is trying to merge back into traffic going straight.
It looks an awful lot like this driver’s pulled this move before as, just as they reach the front of the turn lane, traffic going straight gets the green.
The Range Rover swerves into the intersection to go straight and effectively cuts everyone off.
This type of move is, of course, not legal.
According to a CHP officer on the exact matter of re-entering traffic to go straight from a turn lane.
“If you’re driving in the left turn lane and there’s an official traffic sign or signal, such as a black and white regulatory sign that indicates that lane is for left turn only, you have to obey that sign and you cannot proceed straight through that intersection.”
Here’s the sign-in from that intersection the Range Rover driver disobeyed.

These types of violations are moving violations, and violators are subject to a base fine of $238 and at least one point on their record.
“Something tells me he does this often,” /u/ferio252 commented.
“Cars are such BORING colors these days,” /u/Irate_Primate pointed out.
These lights are typically programmed to be long, taking into account the level of traffic.
That driver likely saved, at most, a couple of minutes.
Their driving antics causing an accident is unfortunately not a matter of if, but when.
