New Jersey dad captured this bonehead driving mistake turned instant karma on the way home from his son’s dentist.

New Jersey commuter and Redditor /u/CleverFawn123 shared a case of instant driving karma to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit from earlier this week (Mar 24, 2025) showing a driver in a black crossover blatantly run a red light a good six seconds after their light turned red.

Check out the dashcam video embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of County Rd 621 and Main Rd. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As his dashcam footage shows, he’s ready to turn left onto Main Rd from County Rd 621.

In front of him is a police officer in their black and white cruiser also waiting to turn.

After their light turns green, everyone begins turning.

Then, a good 5-6 seconds after getting the green light, a driver in a black crossover blows through the red in front of OP and the cop.

If the cop had gone and wasn’t 100 percent paying attention, that driver might’ve t-boned the police officer.

Thankfully, the red light runner sails through the intersection without incident, but not before the police officer lit him up and presumably cited him accordingly.

That red light runner couldn’t have picked a worse spot to pull such a hare brained move because up ahead we can see the reds and blues of several police cruisers in the area, too.

“If I were to run a red light, it probably wouldn’t be in front of what looks like a whole-a** police parade,” the top comment from achenx75 read.

“My wife and I were taking our 6-month-old to doctors for his checkup and we came back this way an hour and a half later with the police still there. Up ahead is the police department and they found a body in the river (Passaic River) on the other side of town last night so there might be a press conference happening or something later on today,” OP clarified.

“Your cops are efficient, they had a road block already set up for the red light runner,” /u/ChaosMusic humurosly added.

Red light runners in New Jersey are subject to a fine up to $200, two points on your record and, in rare cases, up to two weeks in jail.
