This careless driver couldn’t care less if a pedestrian was crossing if it saved them an extra 60 seconds off their drive.
San Jose commuter and Redditor /u/ece_te shared head-shaking dashcam footage from San Jose from earlier this week (Mar 23, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver, presumably from Pal Alto, going around OP and past a pedestrian with the right of way because they couldn’t be bothered with a red light.

The incident happened at the intersection of West Tasman Dr and Vista Montaña in San Jose (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s driving along West Tasman Dr when he comes to a stop in the left turning lane onto Vista Montaña.
Suddenly, a driver in a white Toyota Tundra, seeing there are no cars crossing, decides the red light is not for him, goes around OP and through the path of a pedestrian with the crossing sign and the right of way.
We can see the pedestrian give the universal hand sign for “What was that all about?” as she made her way across the crosswalk.
This wasn’t a slick move considering, not only are the plates visible, but you can see their Carmel Stone Imports logo, too.
The plates read 40343T3, and the logo matches the one on their website.
Carmel Stone Imports has locations in Palo Alto, Carmel, and Sand City.
“I’ve been the pedestrian in similar scenarios, man it is just no fun walking around nowadays. Chuckleheads in oversized vehicles being entitled in combination with paying no attention to their surroundings is frightening,” a top comment from /u/LimePizza reads.
Any time I see a pickup in my review, I just automatically assume they’re going to ride my a** and or do something stupid,” /u/styckx bluntly put it.
“His dumbass little “cmon!!” arm gesture as if he’s not entirely in the wrong, this is exactly the attitude I fucking hate about American drivers,” /u/jingledraws22 added.
Since the Reddit post, someone left a Google Review informing the business of their driver’s idiotic move, prompting this response from them.
“Hey Paul, we appreciate you taking the time to leave us a review. Safety is our top priority, and we apologize if our drivers have caused any concern. We have addressed this issue and taken steps to ensure our drivers are more mindful on the road. Thank you for bringing this to our attention and we hope to have the opportunity to serve you better in the future.?
If cited, red light runners in California are subject to a ticket with a total fine of around $485 and one point on their driving record.
