This is why it’s important to keep up on the health of your tires and to take driving in the rain seriously.
Dallas commuter and Redditor /u/P1Eric shared shocking dashcam footage from I-35E in Dallas from earlier in March (Mar 9, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit, showing a driver speeding on the rain soaked interstate begin to hydroplane, lose control, and spin almost a full 360 degrees before coming to a stop, seemingly unscathed and without damage.
Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened on a stretch of I-35E just after Exit 436A towards the Irving/DFW Airport (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam footage shows, not only is the freeway wet, it’s still pouring making poor driving conditions.
Suddenly, we see a driver in a blue Toyota Corolla speed down the fast lane, going way too fast for the conditions.
The Corolla driver loses control, begins to hydroplane, and spins out of control.
Thankfully, traffic around the Corolla recognizes the danger and slows in time, allowing the Corolla to minimize its collateral damage.
The Corolla eventually loses enough energy and comes to a stop without damaging anything externally.
The driver pulls to the side of the road to collect themselves, and that’s where the clip ends.
“Blindly crossing the left lane at the end is the icing on the cake,” OP points out.
“Good example of why you need to replace your tires every once in a while,” the top comment from /u/BrewCityChaserV2 reads.
“I never want to feel that anxiety/terror-filled, warm feeling that washes over you when that happens. . Once is enough,” /u/jjdiablo comments.
It should be noted that, even with the newest and best tires, the tread can only evacuate so much water.
The best policy to follow in the rain to prevent this type of incident is to slow down, however, drivers seemingly are too proud to follow that simple advice.
