A driver failed to yield correctly to traffic going both ways, a bad decision that could’ve been costly had it not been for a defensive-driving dashcam owner.

US-202 commuter and Redditor /u/DrunkenGoose37 shared head-shaking dashcam footage from earlier in April (Apr 4, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a hare-brained driver making a left turn at the absolute worst time.

Check out OP’s dashcam video below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of US-202 and Lockhouse Rd. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s driving down US-202 at the normal speed of traffic.

The speed limit in this area is 35 MPH.

As he approached the intersection with Lockhouse Rd, a driver in a blue Mazda crossover stopped and began their left turn.

OP slows and honks, assuming the driver would continue turning.

But, with traffic coming from the other direction, the blue Mazda driver slows, too, practically coming to a complete stop.

There’s a bit of space on the left side of the road, which OP swerves towards, narrowly avoiding T-boning the clueless driver.

“What the F***!,” OP understandably yells out.

Thankfully, nothing comes of the incident, and everyone makes it out unscathed and without damage.

“Man, there was oncoming traffic as well – did they look at all?,” /u/Cherenk0V_blue wondered.

“Everyone is so honky today,” /u/hobosbindle humoursly added.

“That retaining wall + the fence + the curve probably makes that a regular occurrence there. It doesn’t make what they did right, but a traffic design improvement could be made,” /u/internetenjoyer69420 pointed out.

“That’s a left turn you should just avoid, especially with heavy traffic,” /u/WhereverYouGoThereUR suggested to any locals.

In Massachusetts, failing to yield properly to traffic that doesn’t result in an accident is subject to a base fine of up to $35 before fees.
