Cars exiting this offramp are warned to take it at 30 MPH, something this driver clearly wasn’t doing.

Chicago commuter and Redditor /u/Malukkye shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier Easter morning (Apr. 20, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a speeding driver in a Chevrolet Cruze take the Dan Ryan Expressway offramp at too high a speed, causing them to lose control, spin out, and cause a multi-car collision.

Check out his dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

As mentioned, the incident happened on a Dan Ryan Expressway offramp as cars exit the 55 and the 90 towards Cermak and Chinatown (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s driving along this off-ramp towards Cermak.

The dashcam video and screenshots of the area show there are many signs warning drivers to take the off-ramp at a reasonable speed.

Here, it shows drivers should slow to 30 MPH to negotiate the upcoming turns.

Dan Ryan Expressway Offramp, take it at 30 MPH.

They aren’t tight turns, but if taken at too high a speed, drivers increase the chances of them getting into an accident.

Suddenly, a driver in a Chevrolet Cruze, going at speeds well above 30 MPH, understeers towards the other side of the off-ramp.

The driver corrects, but with little traction up front and going at too high a speed, they lose control and slide towards an off-ramp barrier.

Unfortunately, they slam into an SUV at a high rate of speed, causing that SUV to also spin, colliding with other traffic, too.

It’s multi-car collision mayhem on Easter morning.

“Wow, did we just watch that?” OP’s passenger riding shotgun comments.

“People that drive like that and get in wrecks should be thrown in jail for an extended period of time, easily could have killed someone,” one of the top comments from /u/_jump_yossarian reads.

“Man, this guy missed all the warning signs when exiting to Cermak, which is not exactly abrupt. Thanks, now i’m going to be watching my rear view anytime i come to this intersection,” local /u/Admirable-Pie3869 adds.

“Ace Ventura parking skills,” /u/hexen2077 hilariously adds.

With speeds that look like they were driving 26+ MPH over the posted limit, this borders on Aggravated Speeding, violators subject to a maximum conviction of “6 months in jail + $1,500.00 fine + mandatory court costs + 50 points on your driving record.”
