A yellow school bus with markings indicating it’s owned by the Burrel Motor Coach company almost changed lanes into a dashcam owner’s vehicle.
Baltimore commuter and Redditor /u/meeroth shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier this week (May 4, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver in a yellow school bus, catering to chaperoning kids to field trips, almost crash into the side of a dashcam owner because the driver wasn’t likely paying attention.
Check out the dashcam footage shared embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened on 295 North headed towards Downtown Baltimore just after the Wenburn St, Westport exit (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s dashcam footage shows, he’s in the fast lane of the 295 when a bus starts making multiple lane changes from the far right lane.
As the bus approaches, we can see markings on the bus indicating that the bus belongs to the Burrel Motor Coach company out of Baltimore.

For a moment, the bus pauses next to OP, which OP interprets to mean the driver might’ve seen him, but as OP starts to pass the bus, it appears that’s not the case.
The driver in the bus continues to encroach upon OP’s lane.
Had not OP honked, the bus would’ve sideswiped OP, for sure.
Thankfully, the honking gets the bus driver’s attention, and a crisis is averted.
That, however, doesn’t excuse the bus driver’s poor lane-changing etiquette.
“Whoever’s driving the school bus should not be driving anything,” the top comment from /u/SlipMage reads.
“What bus driver in their right mind tries to get to the fast lane… In. A. Bus,” /u/poormansRex points out.
“I knew I recognized this s*** stretch of road. I’ve had several people do just that to me on 295,” local /u/RL_Mutt added.
Even though these buses have larger-than-normal blind spots, they do have special mirrors meant to combat this weakness.
Regardless, proper lane changes mean glancing with your eyes, something this driver likely didn’t do.
An unsafe lane change like this is a violation of Maryland’s Transportation Code 21 309 Paragraph b “Diver Changing Lanes when unsafe.”
Violators are subject to a $130 fine before all the fees and 3 points on their driving record.
