Litter violators are subject to a fine. Florida has a statewide litter reporting hotline, which Redditors vow to use to report this instance.
Melbourne driver and Redditor /u/MrAlex1112 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (May 10, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver in a Kia Crossover turning right on Co Rd 509 chucking a piece of garbage out their window onto the sidewalk.
Check out their dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened near the intersection of CO Rd 509 and FL-404 just as drivers make a right onto the 404 (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam footage shows, OP follows a driver in what looks like a Kia Sorento makes a right onto FL-404.
Then, clear as day, just before they turn, we can see either the driver or passenger chuck a piece of garbage out the window onto the sidewalk.
Literring!
As mentioned in OP’s title, “I hate people who litter.”
Well, he made that opinion known as he laid on his horn in frustration.

As predicted, their vigilante horn laying had no effect on the littered as we can see them driving away.
“Y99 JJR FL plates 1-800-BAN-LITT is FL’s statewide reporting,” the top comment from /u/ChadworthRothschild reads, advocating to report the litter ASAP.
Anyone who tries to report will have to wait till Monday as their phone lines are closed on the weekend.
“People who think it’s ok to litter are such pieces of trash,” /u/Arkseyer added.
“How hard is it to keep a plastic bag in your car?,” /u/P1tri0t asked.
In Florida, littering of this nature and under 15 pounds is subject to a fine up to $100 before fees. Also, a litterer may be ordered, “to pick up litter or perform other labor commensurate with the offense committed.”
Yes, even a single banana peel is considered littering despite how fast they decompose.
