An idiot driver just about stopped on the 57 in the fast lane so they could make their exit onto the 10.

SoCal commuter and Redditor /u/WhyDoWeCare shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier last week (June 11, 2025) to the /r/RoadCam subreddit showing an idiot driver coming to a crawl in the fast lane, slowing down traffic dangerously, so that they could make their exit onto the 10.

The incident happened on the Orange Freeway (57) in Pomona just before Exit 21 onto the 10 (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As OP’s footage shows, he’s travelling in the fast lane of the 57 going about 85 MPH.

Suddenly, he nearly comes to a stop near Exit 21 as a white Chevrolet Suburban in front of them also comes to a crawl.

The reason behind this sudden slowdown becomes apparent as we can see a driver in a red Honda Accord signaling left?

No, it can’t be. But, of course.

The Accord driver is trying to make their exit onto the 10, not by re-routing, but by causing a dangerous situation for everyone around them.

OP tries his best not to get rear-ended by swerving into the breakdown lane.

Inevitably, as a lot of idiots on the freeway who pull heinous maneuvers eventually end up doing, the driver in the Accord gets his way (because the world revolves around them). He makes his way onto the 10 across multiple lanes of traffic.

“Let’s recap what we just witnessed: a driver camping in the far left lane with no cars ahead—as they’ve likely been doing for miles leading up to their intended exit, then, at the very last second, and after another few seconds for good measure, slowing down until they are certain their path across the entire freeway to their exit is at no less than an 85 degree angle, AND ONLY THEN giving up their campsite, their safe and happy place.,” the top comment from /u/Gabepls reads.

“Bad drivers never miss their exit. Reversing on the highway is always an option,” /u/drinkdrinkshoesgone sarcastically added.

“I was chatting with a customer while I was driving to another customer’s home… realized I had just missed my exit… but the HOV exit was on the other side of the freeway. I could make it if I crossed 3 lanes… And those words went through my head.. A bad driver never misses their exit.. I made the 2-mile detour and safely made it to my destination w/o making it onto this sub,” /u/Dug_n_the_dogs shared.

Of all the citations this idiot might’ve racked up, slowing below 10 MPH on a freeway and an unsafe lane change are likely.

Both violations in California are subject to a $238 fine before all the fees and a point on your record each.

Idiots, don’t do this.

Just re-route.

Almost every car has GPS.

This behaviour is inexcusable, not to mention downright dangerous.
