Chevron/Texaco’s 50-cent cashback as a bonus investment for every $20 spent is no longer available on the Acorns Investment App.

If you’re wondering where your 50-cent Acorns investment bonus is after buying Chevron/Texaco gas, bad news: that Found Money Acorns Earn reward is no longer available.

Acorns members, myself included, were disappointed to find this out the hard way after buying gas from Chevron/Texaco and finding the 50-cent bonus investment not hitting their accounts, at least pending, shortly after.

While there was no official announcement from either Chevron or Acorns that their Found Money partnership, which invested, as of late, 50 cents for every gas purchase over $20, eagle-eyed Acorns members noticed the aforementioned bonus not hitting and put two and two together.

“They (Acorns) pulled that warm reward (Chevron/Texaco Found Money) altogether,” Redditor /u/gates-ollie commented earlier in January this year, presumably after noticing the bonus investment not showing up.

“Unfortunately, (the) Chevron (earn rewards investment) ended November 5th,” said /u/20TL12III with a more definitive end date.

While not a large “cash back” itself, paired with other cashback bonuses like 5% back when paying with credit and Chevron-specific cashback offers, what is essentially a 2.5% cashback (if you spent $20 exactly,) incentized and sweetened the deal that much more to choose Chevron/Texaci over other gas station brands.

And, as an investment in what most Acorns users invest in, index funds, that 50-cent cashback, multiplied by how many times you fill up, adds up and contributes to your overall investment portfolio, potentially doubling and tripling if kept in the market long enough.

Now, it looks like Acorns Investment members are left with no gas options as Chevron/Texaco was the only gas partner.

Hopefully, another gas brand partners with Acorns soon, preferably one that, like Chevron/Techron, offers Top Tier Fuel.

Gas is getting expensive as it is.

Why not incentivize gas buyers to choose your brand over others?
