A traffic cop was conveniently situated near the Bullward Wash Trail and saw it all play out.
Maricopa County commuter and Redditor /u/Tomcat848484 shared a case of instant karma from earlier last week (June 26, 2025) to the /r/ConvenientCop subreddit showing a driver in a Ford pickup using a paved shoulder on the right to overtake illegally.
As the subreddit name suggests, he was pulled over shortly after.

The incident happened in the 15000 block of Camelback Rd in Litchfield, AZ (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As OP’s rear dashcam footage shows, he makes a right from 152nd Ave onto Camelback, a section which has a 45 MPH speed limit.
A driver behind OP suddenly overtakes him on the right using the paved shoulder next to the bike lane, a section marked off with solid white lines not meant for drivers to go through.
“It’s a 45 mph road. I’m doing 54 when he comes past me,” OP’s caption reads.
That would’ve been the end of it had it not been for a bike cop strategically parked behind a tree next to the Bullward Wash Trail.
Keen eyes will notice the driver likely spotted the bike cop because they hit their brakes once he completed his overtake.
Seeing it all play out, the bike cop turns onto Camelback, spots the offending driver, and pulls them over.
“Priceless, they literally had room to do it legally and chose chaos,” the top comment from /u/Jaisun76 reads.
“That ‘OH S***” brake tap was bliss,” /u/FL_850 added.
“How dare you impede the uninterrupted travel of Mr. Pickup. You deserve all the karma you get,” /u/AmebaLost piled on.
Overtaking on the right like that is a violation of AZ Code 28-721 ( Driving on right side of roadway; driving on shoulder; exceptions; education), which carries a $190 fine before fees. Points, likely just 2, are also assessed to your driving record, too.
