This irresponsible driver didn’t think to safely yield for possible traffic he couldn’t see coming his way.
Iberia Parish commuter and Redditor /u/VigiLANCE-86 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in June (June 22, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver pulling out and turning left onto E Admiral Doyle Drive without yielding properly, and ending up almost getting t-boned by OP, a dashcam owner, by mere inches.
Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened in the 1100 block of LA-674, aka E Admiral Doyle Dr., in New Iberia (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam footage shows, OP is driving along Admiral Doyle Drive when he approaches a section with a driveway allowing traffic next to this shopping center to enter and exit.
Blocking a view of the driveway is a driver in a pickup truck turning right into said shopping center.
The truck is also blocking of view for a turner about to turn left across traffic with the right of way. As OP approaches, the turner darts out into cross traffic.
If both cars kept going on their original trajectories, OP would’ve t-boned the turner.
Instead, with cat-like reflexes, OP veers left into a nearby driveway of a bank across the street, with the turner careening out of the way, too.
Both avoid hitting each other by mere inches.
“Miraculous save, dude. Holy smokes,” the top comment from /u/Reckless_driver reads.
“It looks like you both turned away at the same time, so slight kudos to the other driver for at least correcting after making such a blunder. People really shouldn’t be turning into traffic if there’s a giant vehicle blocking their view,” /u/gsamov2 pointed out.
“Finally, someone who used defensive driving. Well done, sir,” /u/UAngryMod applauded OP.
In Louisiana, drivers who fail to yield to oncoming traffic in such a manner as OP’s dashcam video are subject to a fine of between $140-200 before all the fees.
