This Woodinville driver thought they’d gain an advantage, only to get stuck on the overpass.
King County commuter and Redditor /u/Bendvis shared a headshaking case of instant karma from earlier in September (Sept 9, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing the moment a red light runner, despite taking that unnecessary risk, gets immediatly stuck in traffic, gaining no advantage at all.
Check out the hilarious bit of instant karma caught on video embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened at the intersection of WA-202/131st Ave and SR-522 off and on-ramps in Woodinville (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP approaches the aforementioned intersection with the lights showing yellow (which means slow and prepare to come to a stop).
A driver in a Toyota Tacoma in the far left lane has no intention of stopping and, as the lights turn red, blows through the intersection.
They immediately have to brake hard to avoid crashing as traffic’s already built up on the SR-522 overpass.
Just 12 seconds after they get the red light, OP and other traffic get the green.
Still stuck, OP passes the Tacoma, who hopefully, but not likely, learned some kind of lesson in patience.
“Hurry up and wait!” one of the top comments from /u/BsHolic reads.
“As someone who drives here often, people should use the lane to the right. It goes to the same place,” local /u/Kouish points out.
In Washington State, including King County and cities like Woodinville, the penalties for running a red light can vary based on whether the violation was detected by a police officer or a red light camera.
If a cop sees it, violators can expect a $124 fine before fees and 3 points on their driving record. Sans cop (red light camera) and no points are assessed.
