This impatient driver thought it was a good idea to squeeze between an SUV and a curb.
Car lanes were designed for, at most, one car, so why did this driver think he could reasonably fit next to another in a single lane?
Who knows?
This colossal driving blunder comes courtesy of presumed semi truck driver and Redditor /u/ImportantUpstars712, who shared the incident from earlier in October (Oct 1, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit.
Check out their dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

OP is stopped on Fair Oaks Blvd in one of the two (soon to be three) left turn lanes before the intersection with Watt Blvd (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
To his left is a queue of fairly normal traffic, including this KIA Sportage, also lining up to turn left.
Suddenly, an absolute genius in a Chevrolet Cruze pulls a high-IQ move and attempts to slip between the Sportage and the slightly raised and gated off-center median.
The inevitable happens, and both vehicles likely trade significant amounts of paint, although it’s not clearly visible from the footage.
The fact that the Sportage shakes pretty hard from left to right is evidence of that.
Both drivers roll down their windows to presumably coordinate how they’re going to resolve this, and that’s where the clip ends.
When it comes to insurance, lesser damage on older cars is already grounds for thousands in damage so it’s a given, in this case, that’s how much damage happened here.
“Confusingly, that lane splits off into two right up ahead. But they were not at that split-off point yet, and both lanes (soon to be 3) were all going the same direction. You know that stupid f*** in the sedan would have tried merging over to the middle or outside lane when turning, too,” /u/svu_fan clarifies.
Here’s a screenshot of what they’re talking about, the split highlighted in red.
“I love how my brain goes from ‘all people deserve respect and life” to “ehh we could definitely do without that guy, he should explode,” one of the top comments from /u/9447044 reads.
“Severe case of not realizing that cars are larger than people,” /u/snoodge3000 humoursly added.
In California, if you’re found at fault for a collision like this, the DMV will usually hit you with one point on your driving record. But if you make things worse by leaving the scene without exchanging info (California Vehicle Code §20002), you’re looking at up to a $1,000 fine and two points instead (source).
