This crazy driver in a Buick tried to force their way into a lane without signaling, but got brutally pit’d instead.

Contra Costa County commuter and Redditor /u/summilux7 shared headshaking dashcam footage from Alhambra Ave to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver brute forcing their way into a lane change, despite not having any room to safely do so, ultimately resulting in them getting pit’d by a truck and spinning 180 degrees before coming to a stop.

Check out the bizarre chain of events that led up to the accident below, with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident ramped up along the 4000-5000 block of Alhambra Ave and culminated at the intersection with Maccalvey Dr (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is driving along Alhambra Ave in the left lane of the two northbound lanes.

You’ll notice a driver in a Buick in the right lane speeding up, riding the bumper of the car in front of them.

Suddenly, they decide to change lanes, without signaling, in front of a Ram 1500, where there’s essentially no room to do so.

The truck driver slams on his brakes, but it’s too little, too late; the Buick driver is committed to entering that lane despite them now being actively pit maneuvered.

The Buick actually bounces off the Ram 1500 briefly before the Buick driver again encroaches into the Ram 1500 driver’s path.

The moment this Buick bounces off the Ram 1500

At that point, the Ram 1500 driver has no choice but to brake and complete the pit maneuver, sending the Buick spinning a full 180 before it ends up stopped in the left turn lane at the aforementioned intersection.

The Ram 1500 driver pulls over, and that’s where it ends.

OP says he provided, at least the Ram 1500 driver, the footage as he’ll likely need it for his insurance.

“That’s satisfying lol, the truck did what many of us want to do sometimes 😂,’ one of the top comments from /u/theoilchecker69 reads.

“This was already entertaining to watch, but the laughing “…dumba**” brought it to a level of satisfying that I was not expecting. Well done,” /u/TimmyDeschainless added.

“Bahahahahaha, that truck didn’t give 2 s***s about avoiding that impact. He saw a pit opportunity and took it. Hope he doesn’t catch a charge for that lmao,” /u/dargonmike1 replied.

In California, violating California Vehicle Code 22107 (unsafe lane change) usually gets you a roughly $238 fine before all the fees and 1 point on your driving record. (Shouse Law Group)

If the unsafe lane change causes an accident (or other aggravating factors), the driver can be held legally liable — and in some cases may face more serious charges (if behavior amounts to reckless driving). (crockettlawgroup.com)
