This driver felt the need to run a red light by creeping dangerously through it, only to come to a stop at the next light, like they weren’t in a rush anyway.

Charlotte area driver and Redditor /u/DeeDivin shared puzzling dashcam footage from earlier last week (Dec 8, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver creeping through this intersection despite facing a red light, only to then come to a stop at the next red.

Check out the head scratcher below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

As mentioned, the incident happened at the intersection of Steele Creek Rd. and Hamilton Rd (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is in the center lane on Steele Creek, the only one headed straight.

Despite facing a red light, suddenly, a driver in a silver Dodge Charger in the left turn lane creeps up next to him, cuts him off, and slowly, but surely, proceeds to creep their way through the intersection.

It isn’t a clean shot through, as this puzzling driver has to stop and start a handful of times, dodging traffic with the right of way.

The Charger driver gets his opportunity and slips behind a right turner, seemingly saving himself a couple of seconds of waiting behind OP.

It seems as was for naught as, replying to a Redditor who guessed they “must have had to be somewhere…,” OP replied that,

“They stopped for the next red light with no traffic.”

Odd behaviour to say the least.

“Just people out here with their one brain cell .. 💀,” the top comment from /u/Formal_Adblock reads.

“It’s all OP’s fault for camping in the left lane,” /u/KaJuNator joked.

“That magical S turn makes it not running a red,” /u/higg1966 sarcastically added.

In North Carolina Division of Motor Vehicles (and in Charlotte, N.C.), running a red light typically draws a fine of up to $100 before all the fees and adds 3 points to your driver’s license record. (legalclarity.org)
