A driver for this Gambrills-based construction company was caught on dashcam showing off truly awful driving skills.

Maryland commuter and Redditor /u/somebody_throw_a_pie shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in October to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver, who purposely changed lanes to allow mergers room, getting cut off and nearly sideswiped anyway.

Check out the near miss below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened on the 32, as mergers joined from the 70, in the area of West Friendship, and just before the exit onto Frederick Rd on Maryland Route 144 (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is in lane #2 of the two lanes headed south when, upon noticing mergers up ahead, he switches to the fast lane to give them room.

“I saw a merge area up ahead, so I moved over. “

One of the mergers, a driver in a Ford Maverick owned by Gambrills-based Environmental Construction company called Environmental Quality Resources, pulls off a truly horrendous merge by pulling off a simultaneous multi-lane change seemingly without looking over his shoulder.

To avoid getting hit, OP has to slam on his brakes as the EQR driver cuts in front of him.

“I was not expecting the guy to move over two lanes and needlessly cut me off. They didn’t even make a left turn or anything, so I have no idea what their problem was. They didn’t react to my honk, and simply sped off about 15mph over the speed limit.”

“I contacted the company. Got the response “We will take steps to ensure this incident is not repeated.”

Interestingly enough, their drivers have earned them a couple of one-star Google Reviews.

Here are two of them.

Google Reviews for EQR

“You just can’t win,” the top comment from /u/MonsterBearMan reads.

Ah, the considerate driver, to a pickup owner, that’s seen just as weakness,” /u/rainmouse factually added.

“That wasn’t enough, bro. You need to merge into the railing,” /u/Tremster24 humoursly added.

In Maryland, an unsafe lane change like this is considered a moving violation. It typically carries a $90 fine before all the fees and 1 point on your driving record. (Maryland MVA)
