A brief flash of brake lights point to this red light runner doing it on purpose.
Oshkosh-area driver and Redditor /u/AltruisticLemon98 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in January (Jan 3, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an extreme red light runner entering into the danger zone of an intersection at least 10 seconds after their light turned red.
Check out the insane driving maneuver below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened at the intersection of Oregon St. with W 6th Ave (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is driving along I-41 Alt/ Oregon St. towards the aforementioned intersection.
In front of him is a driver in a white Lincoln Navigator.
Keen eyes will notice that, from the time the light controlling their direction of travel is visible, it’s showing a red light.
As they approach the intersection, the light has been red for at least 10 seconds.
What’s strange is the Navigator driver’s brake lights come on at 6 seconds in, and then goes off at 8 seconds just before they enter the intersection.
The Navigator runs the red at least 10 seconds after their light turns green; traffic on either side also stops.
Thankfully, no one gets roped into their shenanigans.
By the driver’s behaviour, it looks like he’s done this sort of move before.
“What’s really bizarre to me is that the brake lights come on momentarily before the intersection. Like this was an intentional choice to run the red rather than obliviously doing it,” the top comment from /u/MagnaArma reads.
“Yep, they looked, saw they could get away with it, and went for it,” /u/Cobalt32 concurred.
They probably just had their Massachusetts Driving Glasses on…,” local /u/vyze humoursly adds.
In Wisconsin (including Oshkosh, WI), running a red light is a moving violation that typically adds 3 demerit points to your driving record and can cost roughly $86–$175+ depending on local fines and your record. (City of Madison, WI)
Accumulating 12 or more demerit points within a 12-month period can lead to a license suspension under Wisconsin’s point system. (wisconsindot.gov)
