It looks like even this school bus driver couldn’t resist cutting it close at the exit of Beltway 8 and FM 521.

Houston-area driver and Redditor /u/rdybala shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier this week (Jan 20, 2026) showing an intersection infamous for red light runners living up to its reputation, with multiple red light runners driving by him, including a driver in a Houston Independent School District Bus possibly running the red, too.

Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of FM 521/ Almeda Rd and the exit to Beltway 8 (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is stopped and pointed northbound on FM 521/Almeda Rd with a clearly visible view of both the traffic lights in front of him and the lights to his right controlling the flow of traffic off of Beltway 8.

OP and traffic in his lanes gets the green to go, but, as the title says, this intersection is notorious for red light runners…and this dashcam shows just that.

In the span of three seconds, three vehicles, including a Mini School Bus operated by Houston Independent School District (Bus #0433), fly by him.

It’s noteworthy that the school bus might’ve made the cut and was in the intersection before the yellow turned red, but it was definitely not by much.

Waiting enough, OP proceeds forward, taking his right-of-way.

“Guy in the red car stuck his hand out the window and flicked me off…,” OP added, highlighting how, not only do they run the red light, they think they’re entitled to it.

I’d send a copy of this to the school district’s transportation chief. They won’t get fired, because bus staffing is such a problem these days, but they’ll get their a** chewed a good one,” /u/WKU-Alum suggested.

“And you’ll still have people protesting red light cameras instead of trying to make them benefit the community,” /u/Andrey2790 pointed out.

In Texas (including Houston and Pearland), a red-light violation is generally treated as a moving violation with fines typically ranging from about $150 – $275 (and in Houston municipal court the fine for “running a red light or a stop sign” is around $269), though exact amounts vary by city/county and additional court costs can apply. (LegalClarity) Violations issued by a police officer add two points to your driving record (three points if the violation causes a crash), which can increase insurance rates and lead to surcharges if you accumulate enough.
