This driver in an F-150 was in too much of a rush to stop for a red light, risking potentially getting into a disastrous collision.

Tampa-area driver and Redditor /u/ShameConscious1042 shared headshaking dashcam footage from Palm River-Clair Mel from earlier in January (Jan 12, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an impatient and reckless driver blasting through this busy intersection despite having a red light for more than 10 seconds.

Check out the dashcam footage embedded below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of FL-45 and Madison Ave./ Pendola Point Rd. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is stopped on FL-45 waiting with everyone else in his lane for their light to turn green.

Suddenly, a driver in a dark silver Ford F-150 appears in the rightmost turn lane, hellbent on running the red.

The F-150 driver ever so slightly brakes but rolls through the limit line, perhaps glancing from left to right to see if he wasn’t headed for a collision course with another vehicle.

At that point, OP and everyone else had the red for at least 10 seconds.

By the grace of God, the driver makes it across the intersection without incident; however, it could’ve easily turned ugly had another car been speeding into the intersection at the same time.

“The minivan in front of you appears to have a brake light out, I know that’s small potatoes compared to the truck,” /u/DarthVader1701A pointed out.

“FML. Am I the only one that kept staring at the screen after the video ended.. expecting someone to step out of the car and pee?,” /u/sassefrasss humoursly added.

In Florida, running a red light can cost about a $158–$262+ fine depending on whether it was a camera violation ($158 civil fine) or an officer-issued citation with court costs, and a conviction adds 3 points to your driving record (4 if it causes a crash) once it’s a moving violation. Red-light camera fines generally don’t add points if paid on time, but failure to pay can escalate the ticket and lead to points and higher fines. Accumulating too many points can later trigger a driver’s license suspension. (legalclarity.org)
