This driver in the inside lane of Sand Canyon Ave roundabout tried to exit instead of staying in their lane. Almost causes a collision.
Orange County driver and Redditor /u/SamAmBaia654 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in March (Mar 7, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a clueless driver in a Porsche Boxster not knowing how roundabouts work, almost causing a side-collision in the process.
Check out the near collision in the dashcam footage embedded below, with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened alongside the Quail Hill Shopping Center on Sand Canyon Ave (exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is in lane #2 of Sand Canyon Ave. approaching the aforementioned roundabout that directs traffic onto Quail Hill Parkway and Shady Canyon Dr.
Next to OP is a driver in a white Porsche Boxster (Plate # 9LRJ469)

They both enter the roundabout at the same time, with OP in the outer lane.
Attempting to continue heading straight towards Quail Hill Parkway, the Boxster driver tries to exit onto Shady Canyon Dr despite rules of the road for roundabouts and signage dictating they need to stay in their lane at that point.
OP emergency brakes to avoid t-boning them, whereas the Boxster driver, oblivious, continues onto Shady Canyon Dr in front of OP.
Thankfully, nothing more came of the incident; however, hopefully that Porsche driver learned a valuable lesson with their near-miss.
“Totally expected,” the top comment from /u/DavidSequoia reads.
“iPhone,” /u/RoryHoff added, suggesting that the driver was on their phone.
In California, making a lane change in a roundabout where it’s prohibited can get you a $238 fine and 1 point on your driving record. It violates CVC §22107 (unsafe lane changes). This moving violation can also increase your insurance rates.
