Despite having sophisticated sensors and emergency braking capabilities, it was not enough to stop these two drivers from crashing into each other.

Oakland resident and Redditor /u/SportsGuy02431 shared headshaking security cam footage from earlier in May (May 20, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing two Teslas, one of them a Cybertruck, both going at the same time at a 4-way stop and colliding into each other.

Check out the overhead shot of how it all played out below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of 43rd St. and Market St. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

43rd & Market

As the screenshot of the intersection above shows, drivers on Market do not have a stop; only those crossing from Market do.

As such, in the video, we can see a driver in a Tesla Cybertruck, supposedly a mobile service technician, stopping at the intersection for a pedestrian.

Since they have the stop sign, they must wait for cross traffic to pass before they can safely turn or drive forward.

The Cybertruck driver is not paying attention and does not see another Tesla driver approaching on his right.

He goes just as the Tesla drive approaches, and they both crash into each other, causing thousands of dollars in damage to each other’s vehicles.

“I was shocked it was actually doing truck things carrying tires,” the top comment from /u/LadyMysterie reads, pointing out how the Cybetruck is carrying tires in the back.

“Tesla never fully stopped. Never know what these idiots are thinking,” /u/Final-Contract-6582 pointed out.

“Best part is the Cyber Truck is a service vehicle,” OP replied.

In California, running a stop sign is typically a base fine of about $238 after fees and adds 1 point to your driving record. If the violation causes a crash, the driver can also face higher insurance rates and possible liability for damages or injuries. More serious injuries or reckless behavior can lead to additional citations or criminal charges.
