This Florida woman could not grasp the messed-up logic of making a turn from the leftmost turn lane from a road with two parallel turn lanes.

Manatee-area County driver and Redditor /u/Alert_Lavishness_327 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in May (May 20, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a clueless woman in her Audi making a U-turn from the rightmost, outside lane.

Check out her bonehead move below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of FL-70 and Lakewood Ranch Rd. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is pointed westbound on FL-70 in the leftmost turn lane of two turn lanes.

When they get the green to go, he starts to turn left onto Lakewood Ranch, but has to emergency brake because a woman in her Audi next to him decides to make a U-turn.

As WKMG News 6 ClickOrland explains, U-turns are never allowed from a rightmost turn lane if there are multiple turning lanes.

Thankfully, OP stops in time, avoiding what would’ve been one messy t-bone crash.

“The u-turns down there floor me! They seem to court all kinds of trouble. They are not legal at any controlled intersection at all here,” the top comment from /u/mmmlemoncakes reads.

“She was totally oblivious, didn’t even look at me while I was slowing down and blasting my horn,” OP replied.

“They’re a necessity for getting around in Tallahassee. It’s maddening,” local /u/illiter-it added.

In Florida, making an illegal U-turn — such as turning from the far-right turn lane when not permitted — is typically treated as an improper turn or improper U-turn violation. That usually carries a fine around $100–$160 depending on the county and adds 3 points to your license if convicted. If it causes a crash, drivers can also face higher insurance rates and liability for damages.
