This careless driver did a no-look lane change in the middle of an intersection and then had the nerve to get mad at the other driver.
Orange County driver and Redditor /u/United_Wrongdoer2086 shared headshaking dashcam footage from Orlando from earlier last year (Sept 9, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a driver in their Hyundai changing lanes in the middle of this intersection, almost sideswiping OP, and then blaming them when called out.
Check out the hare-brained move below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened at the intersection of Lake Underhill Rd. and Dean Rd in Orlando (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is driving northbound on Dean towards the aforementioned intersection.
OP goes straight from the rightmost lane; however, a driver in the center lane, also going straight, decides to change lanes in the middle of the intersection without looking over the right shoulder.
OP gives a honk, saving himself from what would’ve been an accident.
Then, as the title of his thread mentions, the offending driver had the nerve to give OP the finger as he changed lanes and passed him.
“I don’t know what video those who criticize OP were watching. You are either delusional or just are being contrarian. The Hyundai purposely cut off OPs car long after OP established himself in the far right lane – well before the intersection. Nor was there any obligation of OP to avoid overtaking the slowly moving Hyundai. The Hyundai driver had his head up his arse and should have been apologizing for being such a bad driver,” one of the top comments from /u/DefiantFellow reads, defending OP.
“The nerve. Wrong and rude! Someone flipped me off once when I was in a parking aisle, stopped because someone in front of me was backing out. Then someone else started backing out from my left, straight back toward my car and almost hit both my driver’s side doors. I honked at her and she stopped her car, then gave me the finger! Yet she’s the one who was about to T-bone me in reverse,” /u/MajesticEmergency added.
In Florida, an unsafe lane change (including one in or near an intersection) is typically cited as a noncriminal traffic infraction.
The fine usually runs about $100–$300+ once court costs are added, depending on the county and whether it’s classified as careless driving or improper lane change.
It generally carries 3 points on your Florida driver’s license, and those points can add up quickly toward suspension if you get multiple violations in a short period.
It’s worth noting there isn’t a specific statute in the vehicle code prohibiting intersection lane changes; however, it would behoove those who try to pull one off to do so at their own peril.
