Corvette driver illegally uses turn lane to go straight.
Orlando-area driver and Redditor /u/United_Wrongdoer2086 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in June (June 17, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a goofball in their Corvette taking part in a worrying, illegal traffic manuever trend by using the turn lane to go straight instead, just to cut traffic.
Check out how it all went down on dashcam below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened at the intersection of E Colonial Dr. and Rouse Rd. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is headed west down E Colonial Rd towards the 417.
Coming up from the rear is a driver in a blue C8 Corvette who slides into the right turn lane.
When they get the green, instead of turning right, the Corvette owner takes advantage of the situation and his super-fast car to get ahead of traffic to his left, choosing to go straight instead.
In other words, he did this purposely, and this probably isn’t the first time he’s done this.
Thankfully, drivers making a right on red up ahead, nor does parallel traffic get in the way of his illegal maneuver.
“Sadly, this is the new normal in SoCal. Drivers using turn lanes as their private cut-through traffic pass,” the top comment from /u/Seriously_UnPrompted reads.
“Until you meet Tesla guy who floors it at each light,” /u/No-Dragon916 humoursly added, pointing out how electric cars with their instant torque can easily thwart this kind of behaviour, given Tesla drivers have nothing to lose.
“I honestly can’t even bring myself to get mad at this kind of thing anymore since it’s so common where I live,” /u/-UncreativeRedditor admitted.
In Florida, blasting straight through a dedicated turn lane is typically cited as an improper turn / failure to obey lane-use control markings, which is a moving violation. That commonly carries about a $166+ fine (varies by county) and 3 points on your license if convicted. (law.justia.com)
