Physics humbled this driver real quick, sending him on a tailspin that thankfully didn’t involve anyone but himself.
Collin County-area driver and Redditor /u/DarkLurker1986 shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in June (June 19, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing some young hotshot in their Dad’s Nissan Frontier taking a turn at way too fast a speed, causing them to lose control and spin a full 180 degrees.
Check out their bonehead move below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident occurred at the intersection of Coit Rd. and Spring Creek Parkway in Plano (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is stopped, headed south on Coit towards Central Market, waiting for traffic in front of him to complete their turns.
Wanting to beat the red, a driver in a red Nissan Frontier pickup guns it and turns at way too fast a speed.
With an empty bed and most of the weight now shifted onto the front tires, physics takes over; the presumably young driver loses control and spins a full 180, ending up pointed in the opposite direction.
Thankfully, no one was waiting where they stopped.
“He was just being cool about making a U-turn,” the top comment from /u/nak00010101 reads.
“That is one way to make a right-hand turn when you actually turned left,” /u/Skechaj added.
“Dang, I know that intersection! OP, ever seen the 4+ vehicle conga line of “it was yellow for the guy before so I’ll keep making my left turn”?,” local /u/MacArther1944 asked.
In Collin County, TX, blowing a red light while turning too fast and losing control could result in tickets for running a red and failure to control speed. Expect fines that can reach several hundred dollars with court costs, and insurance rates may increase even though Texas no longer assigns state surcharge points. If it caused a crash or was deemed reckless, penalties can be higher.
