This genius decided to turn onto Bartram just as oncoming traffic was fast approaching.

Jacksonville-area driver and Redditor /u/GotBand4Nothing shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in August (Aug 25, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing this genius making a hare-brained decision before turning, resulting in his own t-bone accident, and ending up on their side.

Check out the dashcam footage below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of Atlantic Blvd/ FL-10 & Bartram Rd. (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

OP is headed westbound on Atlantic Blvd, following a driver in a beige Subaru Outback.

OP points out the Outback starts to signal a good block and a half from their actual intended turn.

The Outback slips into the left turn lane onto Bartram facing a solid green light, which means they must yield their right of way to oncoming traffic.

Then, without thinking their decision through, the driver in the Outback turns just as a driver in a white Hyundai Sonata fast approaches.

The driver in the Sonata t-bones the Outback hard enough that it sends the Outback onto its side before both come to a stop.

OP doesn’t clarify, so it’s assumed all parties involved made it out relatively unscathed.

The same, however, can’t be said about their rides, both likely totaled.

“100% they were on their phone. They got to that second intersection and had to finish their text. When they finally finished, they just gunned it without paying much attention,” /u/yeahright17 replied to a top comment wondering if phones were the cause.

“As an Impreza driver, let me say that Subaru drivers have to be some of the most inconsistent people you can be stuck behind or be driving around. It’s either someone who can drive well, or someone who is terrified of everything on the road and brakes during a 10mph turn because they might feel 0.01 lateral G-force. It’s insane,” /u/stalinBballin added.

“This is exceptionally egregious,” /u/aboxofkittens concluded.

In Jacksonville, Florida, failing to yield while turning left and causing a crash is generally a noncriminal moving violation under Florida Statute §316.122. The typical penalty is $166 total ($100 fine + fees/court costs) and 3 points on the driver’s license; if the crash results in bodily injury, the points can increase to 4.
