This dashcam owner said that not only did this driver not yield, but she also didn’t look like she cared about almost getting T-boned.
Chicago-area driver and Redditor /u/Cesarjay shared head-shaking dashcam footage from Brighton Park from earlier in September (Sept 22, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit, showing a driver pulling out of this Walgreens without properly yielding, almost causing their own T-bone collision.
Here’s how it all played out below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened in the 4000 block of Kedzie Ave just after the intersection with Archer Ave (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is headed south down Kedzie towards the Orange Line Subway Station.
As he begins to pass Walgreens, a driver in a dark gray Hyundai Sonata, already halfway out of the driveway, fails to yield the right of way to OP and brute-forces their way onto Kedzie.
It doesn’t help, as pointed out by others, that a driver in a GMC Yukon, parked in the bike lane, is blocking the view of turning drivers, too.
OP emergency brakes and avoids T-boning the front driver’s fender of the Sonata by mere inches.
A beat later, she continues turning.
“Didn’t look like she cared after pulling away, OP shared in the title of his thread.
“One of the reasons I dislike tinted front windows is I have this deep need to know if the idiot looks like an idiot,” one of the top comments from /u/jim_br added.
“Congratulations, you’ve reached the stage of your life where you became an inconvenience. Just existing and following traffic rules and using common sense. You irritated a self-proclaimed superior human being. Someday we will develop a secret handshake,” /u/deadsantaclaus sarcastically added.
For failure to yield when pulling out from a private road or driveway in Chicago, a reasonable figure to use is about $150–$200 in fines/court costs, although the exact amount depends on how the citation is processed. Illinois assigns the offense 20 license points. (ilga.gov)
