This Toyota Tacoma driver was too excited to use his mid-size truck’s off-road capabilities. Drives onto the shoulder and over the sidewalk to bypass traffic.

Clark County-area driver and Redditor /u/Steverik shared head-shaking dashcam footage from Las Vegas from earlier in September (Sept 29, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit, showing an impatient driver in their Tacoma resorting to driving on the shoulder and over a sidewalk just to bypass a handful of cars in front of them.

Here’s the crazy move below with the original Reddit thread linked here.

The incident happened at the intersection of Edna Ave and Jones Blvd in Las Vegas (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)

As the dashcam shows, OP is going east on Edna, ready to turn right on Jones.

Drivers seem to be taking advantage of an unpaved shoulder, as a driver in a Tesla Model Y drops a tire off the pavement into said shoulder to reach the turn lane faster.

However, one Tacoma driver kicked it up a notch and fully committed to driving in the shoulder.

OP boxes them out from trying to merge in front of him, only escalating the situation.

The Tacoma driver goes Full Chort and brute-forces his way to a right turn, hopping over the corner of the sidewalk to get there.

“All that to save barely 5 seconds,” the top comment from /u/Alternative_Gold_993 reads.

“Vegas drivers are somethin’ else, and I’m a Californian,” /u/Most-Road-5366 added.

“Did great, more offroading than it’ll see for another 3 years,” said /u/curbebombr.

In Las Vegas, driving onto the shoulder and hopping a curb to make a right could be cited as an unsafe turn using an improper position/method, which carries 4 demerit points in Nevada. (leg.state.nv.us)

A fine for this is about $200–$300, although the exact amount depends on the statute charged and court assessments; Nevada does not have one universal fine for this maneuver. (lasvegasnevada.gov)
