This goofball had the gall to blindly overtake a semi over double solid yellow lines in the early hours of the pitch-black morning.
Westmoreland County-area driver and Redditor /u/kexdi shared head-shaking dashcam footage from US-119 from earlier in October (Oct 12, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing an early morning driver making a hare-brained decision to overtake a semi on a blind corner.
Here’s how it played out below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
The incident happened in the 2000 block of US-119 just before entering the town of Crabtree (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the dashcam shows, OP is driving east on US-119 towards Crabtree in the early hours of the morning (1 A.M.)
As such, it’s pitch-black and unlit.
Traffic can be seen approaching from the other side; however, suddenly, the headlights of a car overtaking a semi can be seen fast approaching.
Here’s what drivers going the other way can see, but in the middle of the day.
They cannot reliably see oncoming traffic, let alone in the early hours of the morning.

Thankfully, the doofus driver completes their overtake before OP reaches them, but barely.
“I hope you honked for the year off your life that scare took,” one of the top comments from /u/Kdcjg reads.
“I don’t always overtake, but when I do it’s at night on a curve. XX,” /u/mrcheez22 sarcastically added.
“That was brave and stupid,” /u/Appropriate-Floor-34 added.
In Pennsylvania, overtaking another vehicle over double solid yellow lines on a blind corner can result in a citation under 75 Pa.C.S. § 3306(a)(1), carrying 4 points and typically a $25 fine plus court costs; passing in a marked no-passing zone under § 3307 carries 3 points, with the fine depending on the citation and local costs.
