If this driver was looking where they were going, they’d see an enormous ROAD CLOSED sign instead of crashing into it.
Portland-area driver and Redditor /u/isnt_Rocket_Science shared head-shaking and hilarious dashcam footage from this Concordia neighborhood from earlier last year (January 14, 2025) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit, showing a driver, not paying attention, driving head-on into a ROAD CLOSED sign.
Check out the masterclass in not paying attention below with the original Reddit thread linked here.
As mentioned, the incident happened at the intersection of NE Jarrett St & NE 24th Ave (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the footage shows, OP is headed westbound on Jarrett towards Alberta Park.
As he approaches the aforementioned two-way stop, for some reason, part of NE 24th St is closed, blocked off by a giant ROAD CLOSED sign.
OP observes a driver in a silver Toyota Corolla turning left onto NE 24th St and into the road-closed sign.
Paying attention, much?
OP can be heard getting a good chuckle out of it as the driver can be seen reversing in shame from the rearview.

Thankfully, nothing more came of the incident except a dented front bumper.
“Well, at least the driver now knows for certain that the road is in fact closed,” one of the top comments from /u/HailTheCatOverlords humorously reads.
“I can see how that sign could have been hidden behind the A-pillar to the driver, although it is surprising they would actually hit the dang sign after the full turn,” /u/I_Like_Your_Username added, giving the driver the benefit of the doubt.
“Probably looking at the GPS or something, forgetting that the transparent bit in the front of the car is there for a reason,” /u/CakeTester commented.
In Portland, Oregon, driving past a “Road Closed” sign can be cited as failure to obey a traffic control device under ORS 811.265, a Class B traffic violation with a presumptive fine of $265.
Oregon does not use driver’s license points for ordinary traffic violations.
