Hondata has updated their popular Flashpro for the 10th Gen Honda Civic 1.5 L Turbo with a new base map and full-throttle shifting.

The leaders in ECU tuning and consumer friendly reflashes for Honda’s lineup of cars has improved on its best-selling tuner, the FlashPro. According to Hondata on their official facebook post earlier this week (Apr. 24,2017) Hondata revealed details on their newest and most powerful base map reflash for any 10th Gen Honda Civic equipped with Honda’s 1.5 Turbo engine. Flashpro’s +9 PSI basemap adds a whopping 35 HP and 50 lb-ft throughout the rev range. Check out Hondata’s Youtube video below and a couple of screenshots from their hub dyno.

Hondata’s new + 9 PSI base map improves upon Flashpro’s already impressive list of standard base maps available and adds its most powerful base map that adds 35 HP and 50 lb-ft. In addition, this newest FlashPro update includes full-throttle shifting which means a 10th Gen Civic owner with a Flashpro’d ECU doesn’t have to lift off the throttle when shifting which equates to the turbo being spooled up (always in the powerband.)

Hondata’s new +9 PSI base map calibration

From the factory, the 10th gen Honda Civic uses a Mitsubishi Heavy Industries TD 03 turbo with a stock setting of 16.5 psi, good enough for 174 HP and 162 lb-ft. The beauty of turbo engines over naturally aspirated engines allows tuners, who know what they’re doing, the ability to come up with reliable base maps that not only add power but maintain driveability and fuel economy.

The Hondata Flashpro for the 10th gen Civic comes with full tuning capabilities for the competent tuner but also comes with several base map calibrations selectable from the Flashpro unit that add power by adding boost along with all the right settings. For example, Hondata’s +3 PSI base map adds 15 HP and 14 lb-ft. Moving on up, their +6 PSi base map adds 25 HP and 35 lb-ft.

With this newest +9 psi base map, it’s clear to see that compared to their +7 PSI base map that adds 23 HP and 50 lb-ft, the capabilities of the stock turbocharger are closely being met. While technically possible for Hondata to release a 10 psi base map in the near future, the costs in reliability (added heat, stress to the stock block over time) might be reaching a tipping point over benefits of added power.

Priced at just $700, Hondata’s Flashpro is a downright bargain for the amount of power you can get out of a modification. While bolt-ons like an intake and exhaust might add noise, with these new turbo engines, it’s increasingly difficult to extract power without a proper tune. At least with Hondata’s Flashpro, performance is almost guaranteed.

With the 10th gen Civic Si packing 205 HP and 192 lb-ft and rumored to be priced around $25,000, these new Flashpro base maps make a compelling argument to stick with a cheaper Hatchback LX at just under $20,000 with the same 1.5 Turbo (albeit with a different factory tune and exhaust.) With even the +3 PSI base map, a Hatchback will blow the doors off its sportier Civic Si brother. Around a corner is a different story.
