Back by popular demand, Spoon Sports is bringing back these very expensive carbon kevlar direct air flow intake pipes for 6th Gen Honda Civics with B-series engines.

Are you looking to upgrade your stock intake system if you own a 1996-2000 Honda Civic equipped with the higher power B-series engine? According to Gaijin Garage on their facebook post earlier today (Dec. 13, 2017) it looks like they have some insider information from Spoon Sports HQ in Japan that they’re bringing back their infamous Direct Air Flow Pipes made out of a very durable and flashy looking carbon kevlar material. Not only are they bringing back this unique engine bay performance modification, supposedly it’s a tad better than version 1.0. Check out their facebook post below and get ready to empty out your bank account just that much more this holiday season.

At first glance, what you’re buying looks like a tiny piece of carbon kevlar pipe with a small tab on the end for a screw, and you’d be right, but there’s more to this piece than meets the eye. It’s uncommon knowledge but the stock airboxes on these 6th gen Honda Civics were pretty good performance wise straight from the factory. Like most engines, to satisfy the majority of drivers, a resonator box was attached to the intake arm which dampens sounds of the rushing intake air. But this resonator box also robs valuable power due to the air having to travel through a couple more bends instead of being a straight through design. This direct flow air pipe solves that.

By eliminating the resonator box, air has a straight shot path from the filter into your intake manifold. Not only does it aid in performance, it looks stealth with a factory finish. Paired with a better flowing air filter in the air box and you have a pretty efficient air intake system on your hands.

Like most Spoon Sports parts, this piece will cost you. Password JDM has a few of the first gen pipes in stock and those cost $260. Expect to pay that amount when you buy these new pieces fresh from the factory.

According to some people on Honda-Tech who’ve installed the piece, although you most likely won’t feel any power gains, it does look good and sounds slightly less noisy compared to a short ram air intake.
