Even though presumably every Bugatti Chiron has been spoken for or is on a waiting list, regular ol’ you can bid on one next year and can jump the line for a premium.

As of four days ago, there are 70 Bugatti Chiron roaming around the world, 300 have been spoken for and there is a long list for the remaining 200. According to RM Southby’s on their auction announcement from earlier this weekend (Dec. 25, 2017) it looks like one of those 70 Chiron is headed to RM Sotheby’s to be gaveled off to the highest bidder. By the looks of their predicted asking price, if you want one in your garage and don’t want to wait, you’ll have to pay a 50 percent premium above the original MSRP. Since Bugatti only plans to make about 70 Chirons a year until all 500 have been accounted for, if you want one for the starting MSRP of about $2.6 Million, after you successfully got on the waiting list, you’d have to wait until at least 2023 when all Chirons would have been made (assuming they’re averaging 70 a year.)

Surprisingly, this isn’t even the first Bugatti Chiron to hit the market. One already was sold by RM Sotheby’s earlier this December for a whopping $3,772,500 which is about $600,000 over the MSRP.

Although this Atlantic Blue Chiron has close to three times the mileage of that one that sold in December (this one has about 620 miles while the one that sold only had 250 test miles) RM Sotheby’s is confident that this one will keep its value come auction time.

This one is particularly special as it is one of the first twenty to be delivered worldwide.

The Chiron is undoubtedly a tour de force when it comes to state of the art engine performance from modern-day hypercars. But one has to wonder if these cars will hold their value even though Bugatti is still making them?

Bugattis depreciate pretty fast and I reckon they’ll drop in value even faster thanks to regular ICE engines taking the backburner to more electric and hybrid engine technology.

This owner most likely took a calculated risk, enjoyed the Chiron for a bit, and is now unloading it while he can still make a profit on one.

And if you don’t even want to bid on one, you can buy one right now for $4.3 Million.
