This pair of Teslas makes for some of the fastest and best-looking emergency vehicles I’ve ever seen.

If you ever get your cat stuck in a tree in Troy, Michigan you might find a firefighter pull up with one of these slick looking Teslas if the rest of their engines are out on duty. Thanks to a video upload from Paul Chambers earlier this year that hasn’t got much attention we get to see a Tesla Model X and S operated and donated to the Station #6, an all-volunteer station, outfitted with flashing red and white emergency strobes. For added effect, the videographer rolled out two of their fire engines in front of these Teslas. Check out the awesome video of these two firefighting vehicles in action below.

Now before you get all bent out of shape that this is clearly city corruption at its finest, spending someone else’s hard earned tax dollars on vehicles they could’ve sourced from a different manufacturer for a cheaper price that’d serve the same purpose, it would behoove you to read their description.

The Tesla’s are NOT owned by the City and this is NOT tax payer dollars at work – just hard work from the guys who bought them and put in their time at the all-volunteer department. This video is all in good fun, of course, done on our own time.

Getting that out of the way, it’s pretty awesome to see Teslas being used in this manner. There are a couple of advantages I could rattle off the top of my head where Teslas would better be suited as emergency vehicles compared to ICE vehicles.

For one, there’s no warmup time. In order to get the most power out of these cars, you don’t need to drive it gently for a couple of minutes before punching it, you can just get up and go.

Then there’s the maintenance, besides the obvious ones like tires and brakes, there are very little owners have to do to keep these Teslas in tip-top shape.

Next, you’ve got that superb handling. Where life and death is a matter of seconds, every second counts, and getting there safely in the quickest amount of time certainly helps.

Kudos to these brave men and women for using their personal vehicles to go above and beyond the call of duty. Hopefully, they won’t have to use these Teslas, pushing them within 10/10ths of their abilities too often.
