Details are trickling in for Fujitsubo’s all-titanium exhaust for the 2018 Honda Civic Type R and I like what I see (and hear.)

Several aftermarket manufacturers have already dropped their full exhaust systems for the highly anticipated FK8 Honda Civic Type R but Fukitsubo’s all-titanium Authorize RM +C might be the best of them all to date. According to Torque GT in an official dealer update from Fujitsubo, they’re ready to drop their Authorize RM+C into the market by as early as April. And if the exhaust clips they’ve dropped so far have any say on how awesome this new system is, FK8 owners might want to save their tax return and then some because this is one of the better sounding (and better looking) full exhausts for the Honda Civic Type R. Check out a clip of a test vehicle throwing some revs below.

First, let’s get the tail of the tape out of the way. Thanks to some keen-eyed CivicX.com members, we already have the skinny on power numbers. A look at Fujisubo’s posters at the Tokyo Auto Salon and it looks like their dyno runs claim this exhaust adds 10 HP and a little over 2 lb-ft. Small numbers but it does prove how efficient the stock exhaust already is.

If you’re not going to get much performance gains from better flow, it’s weight that’ll pay dividends and this Fujitsubo Titanium exhaust cuts a whopping 12.3 pounds from the Civic Type R. That’s major unsprung weight savings.

Then there’s the sound. The FK8 Civic Type R sounds pretty tame thanks to that middle exhaust resonator. Thankfully, this Fujitsubo system kicks the tone up a notch without going into that annoying register of exhaust note notorious with most Hondas. You can partly thank the turbos for that. Nevertheless, this system sounds pretty awesome. Check out the video clip above to see what I mean then compare it to the stock one below.

Finally, there are the looks. Gone is the middle exhaust with a dual tip in its place. And on the tips is real deal carbon fiber. It just looks…right. The Civic Type R’s styling is pretty over the top from the factory so to tone the rear looks down and add a dash of carbon fiber is major style points in my book.

Like most titanium exhausts, this one’ll cost you…a lot. Think $3,000-$4,000. But if you want a system that few will get and sounds great too, take a gander at the Fujitsubo Authorize RM+C.
