This guy’s building an four door EK hatch out of a regular two-door hatch and I’m all about that life.

I first found out about the four door EK hatch conversion a couple of years ago when a photoshopped version of a Mugen EK Hatch was floating around with two extra doors. Since then, I’ve learned some people actually pulled the conversion off and it looks dope as heck! Well, I’ve been following this Honda Civic sedan enthusiast on Instagram and just recently he’s pulled the trigger on his OWN four door EK hatch conversion. I’ve posted on what will presumably be an ongoing timeline of what the conversion process looks like below. In addition, I’ve also put that photoshopped four door EK hatch below as well.

This is a photoshop that presumably launched a handful of real life four door EK Hatch conversions

Now, I’ve never worked on this particular conversion and am literally just eye-balling their process but from what I understand you’re basically chopping off the rear end of an regular 96-00 Honda Civic Sedan, after the C-Pillar, and grafting on the rear end from an EK Hatch, rear door as well as fenders and bumpers.

Here, you can see the donor hatch they’re using.

And here’s what it looks like where they’ve presumably took a sawzall to the rear of a sedan.

Here you can see what the interior looks like without a sedan rear on it. It looks like they’re readying the edges for welding.

Here, you can see they’ve stripped and prepped this area for welding.

And THIS is what it looks like with the hatchback welded onto the rear!

The stage 3 of the #ek4doorhatch

Pretty amazing, right? Since the Civic is FWD, most of the stresses from the drivetrain will be focused on the front. And since the rear cuts didn’t cut into the rear suspension area, presumably, the Civic’s unibody rigidity is maintained.

It looks like all that’s left is a paint job to match the white of the rest of the body and there you have it, another four-door EK Hatch is born.

In this era of faux-racecar builds, people calling lowering and wheels a build, and everyone copying everyone’s aero kits, this type of creativity and fab work is a sight for sore eyes. It also helps that it looks, right, like it should’ve come from the factory with this option.

Bookmark this page as I’ll surely update you on how the final product looks like.

Oh, and yea, I’m fully aware that an EK Hatch is really an EJ6 in America but sorry not sorry, I’m still calling it an EK hatch!
