Nissan hasn’t confirmed this sobering news but the Nissan Juke has been discontinued.

The writing was on the wall, really. According to Auto News on their piece from earlier yesterday (July 29, 2018) it looks like Nissan has done the inevitable and took its Juke out to pasture to shoot it.

Taking a look at the sales history of the Juke since its debut in 2010, sales were plenty strong until 2014 when the small crossover market really started taking over. With so many competitors from different manufacturers and with arguably an inferior product to work with, it was inevitable that Nissan would kill the Juke. Last year, Nissan still managed to move 10,157 Jukes, a sizeable amount but that pales in comparison to some heavy hitters like CR-V moving 378,600 units and Rav 4 with a gargantuan 407,594 units. No comparison.

As per Auto News, the Juke lacked rear seating space for its passengers and the lack of headroom was a turnoff from the get-go. Add its lack of function to a design that was frankly trying too hard and it’s easy to see why the Juke was an unpopular choice.

Long before the Juke was discontinued, the 2018 Nissan Kicks was already a developed platform snatching up some serious sales last year in Brazil and other world markets. With a cheaper price by several thousand and simple options to choose from, the Kicks is ready to carry on where the Juke left off.

More importantly, the Kicks shares the same corporate design language with the rest of Nissan’s lineup. And with many standard features that are optional on other small crossovers like auto emergency braking, forward collision alert, auto headlights, USB ports, keyless entry and push-button start and a competitive infotainment system, the Juke just can’t compare.

If you’re still hankering for a Juke, believe it or not, there are a handful of Jukes on dealer lots nationwide. Now would be the time to start pestering these dealerships for a deal! With the 2018 Nissan Kicks already on sale, it would behoove these dealerships to lighten their Juke inventory sooner rather than later.

But, you’d better get a good deal since the Juke isn’t all that great to begin with.
