T-Pain, of apple bottom jeans lore, is jumping feet first into the world of drifting

Faheem Rashad Najm, better known by his stage name T-Pain, is seriously getting into the world of amateur drifting. The 33-year-old rapper took to Twitter earlier this month asking his followers where he could practice drifting in his newly acquired Nissan S14.5, officially announcing his interest in this grassroots motorsport. And earlier today (Aug. 19, 2018) T-Pain posted a photo of himself kitted out in his custom fire suit. Check out those posts below.

The drifting community, being the dope people that they are, all jumped in with leads on locations where he could drift including connections to people T-Pain should get in touch with to up his drifting skills as soon as possible.

With Gridlife South at Road Atlanta just days away from starting on the 24th, lots of people attending that event are hopeful that the rapper will make an appearance at the event.

With a drift ready car, all the right equipment, and the right connections, I don’t see any reason T-Pain won’t show up. Then again, nothing’s confirmed.

T-Pain is a known gearhead. According to Complex, they ranked the young rapper number four out of 24 for having the biggest car collection. His current collection includes

  • Rolls-Royce Phantom Drophead Coupe
  • 1969 Impala
  • Scion xB
  • Mini Cooper
  • Ferrari F430
  • Bugatti Veyron
  • Cadillac Hearse
  • 1972 Chevrolet Impala
  • Oldsmobile 442
  • 1991 Chevrolet Caprice Classic
  • 1963 drop-top Chevrolet Impala
  • 1963 hard-top Chevrolet Impala
  • Ford F650
  • Buick Lucerne
  • 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle

With such an eclectic taste, I’m not surprised in the least that he’s discovered how cool Japanese drift cars are and how he want’s to get into this niche motorsport.

My suggestion for T-Pain is to learn the basics on console gaming before “whipping it” in real life. Like it or not, everyone’s phone’s going to be on you and the last thing you want is undue attention when you’re trying to concentrate. I say learn the basics in VR and then hop in your S14.5 to “send it” when you feel comfortable.

Then again, you’re T-Pain and you can do whatever the eff you want.

Here’s T-Pain saying Wiscansin just ‘cus.
