After she became the current US Open Champion in Women’s signals, Nissan made her brand ambassador. It was hinted at that she’d be driving an EV Leaf, she wanted the GT-R. Guess who won?

As per Nissan in an official press release they put out earlier today (Nov. 13, 2018) Naomi Osaka will be heading to tennis practice in one of the fastest cars known to man, in a Nissan GT-R Nismo, all 600 HP of it. Earlier last month I blogged about how Tennis super champ Naomi Osaka became brand ambassador for Nissan. And, while I was happy for her, Nissan really hinted that her winning performance was somehow connected to the “spirit of performance” in the Nissan Leaf. Anyone and everyone that read Nissan’s press release rolled their eyes at such a statement. Electric cars are fast and all but right now, there’s only one car in Nissan’s lineup that screams dominance, power, and grit, and that’s the GT-R. More so, Naomi Osaka herself said she prefers the GT-R because she wants to get to practice ASAP. Well, guess who won? Naomi, of course.

When I first saw news that she got her GT-R, I’m like, “Yes, girl yes!” It only took a month but at least she’ll be able to mob around in something that suits her demeanor, humble yet extremely powerful.

Just look at the photos of her posing next to her GT-R above! That’s all her.

Allow me to rattle off the tale of the tape of this monstrous beast. The NISMO takes a regular Nissan GT-R and turns it up to eleven. Now, this turbocharged V6 makes a Godzilla-like 600 HP and 481 lb-ft. Bred on the racetrack, this two-seater is super stiff, planted, and shaped by the wind thanks to improved aerodynamics.

I hope Nissan hooks Naomi up with some track days because only unleashed will she enjoy this car to its full potential.

So, congrats to Naomi on the GT-R and Nissan for pairing up with a bonafide champ. Hopefully, she’ll get to keep her Godzilla after her contract wraps up.
