This McLaren P1 is more powerful than a stock P1 GTR and has an official blessing from Senna’s family to put this special P1 GTR into production.

The McLaren P1 is only five years old, there was only ever really one generation, and it’s a chassis that deserves further development. Thankfully, the P1 GTR program came along which allowed for even more P1’s to be made with more power and customization. This latest P1 GTR, the McLaren P1 GTR Beco, is the most powerful McLaren P1 yet. According to McLaren in a press release they put out earlier today (Dec. 20, 2018), this P1 GTR buyer, in conjunction with the boys at Woking, wanted to have the honor of commemorating Ayrton Senna’s maiden Formula 1 Championship, more specifically, the 30th anniversary. Thus, the McLaren P1 GTR Beco was born.

Check out a couple of photos of this 1,000+ HP McLaren P1 GTR below!

Beco is no ordinary nickname, it was the official nickname Ayrton Senna’s parent’s called him. As mentioned, this new owner didn’t feel right making this car if Ayrton Senna’s family didn’t approve but fortunately they’ve given McLaren their official blessing.

What’s a special edition P1 without a barnburner of an engine and this P1 GTR is no different. Since McLaren puts out so many models, allow me to run through the tail of the tape that leads to this monster of a car.

The standard McLaren P1, if there is ever such a thing, is no slouch, it’s a downright hypercar. Under its hood is a twin-turbocharged 3.8L V8 that, when combined with the McLaren E-Motor, puts out a monstrous 903 HP and 723 lb-ft. 0-60 MPH comes and goes in 2.8 seconds and speed is limited to just 217 MPH.

The P1 GTR variant pumps those numbers up considerably to 986 HP and 737 lb-ft. The blast to 60 MPH is even faster, approaching Tesla Model S P100D like territory.

But this McLaren P1 GTR Beco has an undisclosed amount of power, probably to make the other P1 GTR owners not feel so bad.

…this very special car has a unique engine specification complemented by a 24ct gold heatshield, Lexan rear cover and modified engine bay shrouds.  Working in combination with the electric motor in the McLaren P1™ GTR’s hybrid powertrain, the result is – according to the owner – a ‘suitably pleasing’ increase in power.

That’s code for more than 1,000 HP. I wouldn’t put it past this P1 GTR if it made something like 1,100 HP and 800 lb-ft.

This McLaren P1 GTR has undergone extensive aero upgrades as well that include new front dive planes, a new front splitter, a rear Gurney flap, new barge boards and secondary wing elements that push this McLaren P1 GTR to the ground in the neighborhood of 800kg at speed.

But, the most pronounced feature of this McLaren P1 GTR Beco has to be the paint job, a red and white livery that takes its styling cues directly from the 1988 McLaren MP4/4, a car so successful that it only lost one race between Alain Prost and Ayrton Senna.

It’s a special McLaren P1 GTR for sure and I would really love to see the owner take this P1 out on a track to fully exploit its power. As far as P1’s goes, it doesn’t get any better than this.
