This is possibly the most beat-up Ford GT test mule we’ve ever seen.

Your guess is as good as mine what this rough-and-ready looking Ford GT test mule was doing parked somewhere in Flagstaff, Arizona but I’m glad someone spotted it. Twitter user Noah Stack posted up a tweet tagging a handful of Car Twitter people earlier last night (Aug. 14, 2019) showcasing the sand-blasted looking Ford Supercar backed into a parking spot, a Ford F-series crew cab next to it.

Check out the photos from his tweet below.

A bit of googling around reveals that this is at least one of the three Ford GT test mules spotted in Colorado more than three years ago, the same extended exhaust pipes and non-production rear tail lights jutting out the rear.

Like any supercar program, although the Ford GT has been on sale for more than a couple of years and with a plethora of data from its racing programs at its disposal, I believe these racecars for the road are constantly being improved and tested for durability well after they’ve been on sale.

My guess is Ford is doing some sort of hot-weather testing, ensuring the boosted Ecoboost V6 under the rear decklid won’t develop some sort of premature accelerated wear.

Ford announced they’ll still be making these bespoke cars well into 2022.

I think that’s the deal with this Ford GT spotted in Flagstaff.

Ford has testing grounds in Wittman about 140 miles away.

A quick check of the week’s weather ahead has Central Arizona under a heat alert with temps well over triple digits all week, prime time for hot-weather testing if there ever was.

But what about that busted up front lip? These are low-slung supercars so, after years of roaming around the United States, someone was bound to bash the front lower lip up sometime right?

And I’m digging that matte beige look, it really fits the car’s persona quite well, ready to lay a beat down on any exotic but just a Ford at the end of the day.

What do you think Ford’s up to with this test mule? Let me know in the comments below!
