A popular photo on Twitter is floating around from a lady bragging that she shaved her tires because she likes the looks and they ride smoother on the highway.
Twitter user @Alifanacct posted up a photo of a bald tire earlier this week, bragging that she sanded them down on purpose because now they ride better on the highway and “honestly, I kind of love this look.” But, did she really do this? Is she living up to the trope that women don’t know anything about cars?
Here’s her post on Twitter.
Just finished sanding my tires so that my car will ride smoother on the interstate and honestly I kind of love this look pic.twitter.com/3uMoucwgEO

If you think she actually took out a random orbital sander, some sand paper, and shaved her tires down to this bald finish, you’ve been played my friend, you’re a victim of one of the oldest hobbies of all time, trolling.
No, of course she did not do this on her own.
Any car enthusiast worth their weight in salt can see those front tires and surmise that this is a case of not rotating your tires or just plain ol’ tire neglect.
Someone who took a sander to their tires would not get this uniform a finish, this type of wear is consistent with someone driving on roads way past the life of their tire.
Also, the photo is over two years old.
And, if you’ve been on Twitter long enough, you’ll recognize this photo from an older joke.
Y’all buying your girls air pods but her tires look like this pic.twitter.com/afudblHLbs

What @Alifanacct did was prey upon our need to explain, or, in this case, man-splain. Here are some of the best man-splaining reponses.
I don’t get what he’s saying 🙁 Can someone explain for me? I’m kinda sad like honestly I kind of love this look. I’m a woman if that helps pic.twitter.com/IsLuKA4Ar5

Maam. With all due respect. What you did is incredibly stupid. Yes it may make your car drive "smoother" on the highway. But you have compromised any sort of grip your wheels may have on wet/loose surfaces as well as worn the tyre down a ton.
I actually used st ives apricot scrub!

There’s even a whole Reddit thread with responses from mostly dudes pointing out how dense she is.
And R is for race mode right? xD from r/Cartalk
Tl;Dr: No, she did not literally sand her tires down. It’s a joke.
why are you just singling out male responses? don’t act ‘woke’
There was a woman in there. Or did your “Man Brain” not process it?
That’s a smooth way to see God
