This BMW E46 used the local wet roads as an opportunity to drift, he just didn’t know he’d end up on the news.

When this BMW E46 owner saw rain falling from the clouds in sunny San Diego, he didn’t see this unusual SoCal weather as a bad thing, rather the opposite. Any car enthusiast worth his weight knows that wet roads mean instant drift-juice, so he took out his BMW sedan to the nearest open corner and sent it.

Unbeknownst to him, he just initiated his drift right in front of a photographer from ABC 10 driving near his shenanigans. That photog had his dashcam running in their car and captured the entire drift.

Check out the hilarious news segment filmed from local TV below.

Local rains hit San Diego these past couple of weeks and, like ABC 10 captioned, drivers and shoppers struggled with the wet conditions. Many local roads became flooded and several intersections were not passable until waters subsided.

This, however, was hardly struggling.

I have a feeling ABC 10 knew this kid was drifting, but they kept it professional for TV and described his drift as “fishtailing and regaining control.”

Sure.

Shortly before this BMW driver pulls off his drift you can see him manji-ing or drifting back and forth for fun to get the feel of his big body German sedan before going for it.

This isn’t this BMW’s first rodeo because he times his manji just right for maximum momentum, entering the turn so he can keep and hold a drift at just the right angle, ending up pointing in the right direction post-drift.

Commenters on where I borrowed this bit of footage from where well aware this wasn’t exactly “losing control.”

“Uhhhh that looked like there driver had total control.”

Uuummm sir, that was on purpose

So the next time it gets wet out on the roads and you decide to pull a drift, tune into your local nightly news, you just might end up on TV like this BMW did.
