Youtuber David Dobrik really had some fun with his Tesla Model X, launching it off of one of California’s steepest streets.
When you have a fun car like the Tesla Model X you’re going to do some dumb s*** in it. That’s exactly what Youtuber David Dobrik did earlier today when he launched his electric SUV off of one of Los Angeles’s steepest streets.
Check out the video David tweeted out earlier today and the full video below.

One look at that street and I instantly recognized it, it’s Baxter Street in Echo Park, popularized by the Waze App in recent times because Waze kept re-routing commuters up this street when traffic built up on the surrounding streets.
With a 32 percent gradient, it is literally California’s third steepest street and the nation’s fifth steepest. Here’s a Youtube video showing you just how steep it is.
With its steepest part literally pointing up to the sky, it’s not only one steep street, it’s an uncommon tourist attraction for a lot of visitors, something I’m sure the local neighbors love.
David loves his Tesla Model X P90D, well, at least when it got it brand new.
Although the Model X is one heavy car, with close to 700 HP and more than 700 lb-ft on tap, it’s wicked quick from a stop. It’s also the ideal vehicle to “send it” over some steep hills, hence the Twitter vid we have before us.
It was so epic that Elon Musk replied, however small.

Musk tweeted this out years ago and mentioned it on his podcast with Joe Rogan that, after safety, fun is a priority and I think he approves of these shenanigans.
After safety, our goal is to make a Tesla the most fun you could possibly have in a car

If the Tesla is your main car, yah, don’t do this. But, if you have a lot of disposable income and don’t mind taking your EV off some sweet streets, Baxter St. is a good one imo.
If you live in San Francisco, Pittsburgh, Spring Valley or Honokaa, HI, according to the Mercury News, there are a couple good steep ones there too.
