This Mercedes driver, turning with an unprotected green, didn’t care to yield to this dashcam owner approaching from the other side.
Minneapolis-area driver and Redditor /u/HolyStupidBatman shared headshaking dashcam footage from earlier in July (July 15, 2026) to the /r/IdiotsInCars subreddit showing a Mercedes driver, not paying attention, getting their way when they refused to yield while turning, the dashcam owner avoiding what would’ve been a costly, head-on accident.

The incident happened at the intersection of W 61st St. and Lyndale Ave S (Exact location on Google Maps linked here.)
As the overhead shot shows, cars headed across the aforementioned intersection have to do so at an angle, which means drivers who frequent this area need to pay attention.
OP is headed east down 61st towards Nicollet.
As he approaches the aforementioned intersection, a driver turning onto Lyndale from the opposite direction tries to do so without yielding to OP, who has the right of way.
Had OP continued, as was their right, he would’ve gotten clipped, bad, by the Mercedes.
OP emergency brakes to avoid a collision, of which the driver in the Mercedes takes advantage and completes their turn anyway.
OP sneaks around the inattentive Mercedes driver, and everyone escapes unscathed.
“This is the most egregious instance I have had at this intersection, but it’s really common for people to make that left in front of me going straight. I agree. It’s a little weird as they aren’t dead straight, but it’s a controlled four-way like any other. It’s a problem intersection, though,” OP clarified, responding to a comment about the intersection’s weird layout.
“Driving on fenty,” the top comment from /u/ttystikk reads.
“They 3 people in there did look like they were out of it. They just looked at me with blank looks,” OP replied.
In Minnesota, failing to yield the right of way is generally a petty misdemeanor with a base fine of about $135, though the total amount can vary by county after fees and surcharges.
