Twitter user @NBvllamy, who goes by Koko, revealed to her 1,000+ followers that she’s been secretly squirreling away cash at the same time her boyfriend was. She knew her boyfriend was saving up for a new car and would treat himself to a new set of wheels when he reached $5,000. Soon, he’ll find out his partner in crime has a whole other 5 grand for him to work with.
My boyfriend has been putting back money every month and saved up $5,000 to purchase a new vehicle tomorrow. What he doesn’t know is he has $10,000. I have been secretly matching every dollar he has saved. He truly deserves it y’all.

Since tweeting this reveal out two days ago her tweet’s been RT’d 60,000+ times and liked more than 635,000 times so it’s safe to say this level of boyfriend/girlfriend love struck a chord with the Twitter verse.
Like all viral tweets, there’s a healthy dose of haters lurking about, and this tweet was no different. The majority of the hate came from people thinking her man didn’t deserve this level of sacrifice and it would probably be more understandable if this was her husband.

In the used car market, $10,000 gets you a lot, especially if you want to invest in something reliable. Looking around Autotrader for $10,000 or less you can get a 2010 Toyota Corolla S, a 2007 Toyota Camry Hybrid, a 1991 BMW 535i sedan, and even a whole 2011 Mercedes-Benz E550 with a bit of mileage.
If the boyfriend’s smart and he chooses a car with a bit of cachet, he’ll want to save a couple thousand for the inevitable maintenance down the road, which can take up a large part of the cost of ownership.
