The NSX isn’t Honda’s lowest selling vehicle of the month for once.

Earlier this month, Honda dropped their 2020 February sales numbers and a familiar model showed up in the table. Somewhere, someone actually financed a 2016 Honda CR-Z for a grand total of (1) CR-Zs for the month.

Check out a screenshot of Honda’s sales numbers below.

Honda’s sporty Hybrid was quietly discontinued in 2016 with no new CR-Zs being made after that year. But, that doesn’t mean Honda hasn’t been selling them quietly as there were dozens still lurking around dealership lots collecting dust.

Honda still sold 705 CRZs in 2017, 38 in 2018, and just two last year. For nine months, the CR-Z sales remained dormant, as they should, since Honda technically is not making them, until this February where we just have the one sale.

Priced affordably around $21,000 in its last year of production the CR-Z was loved by Honda enthusiasts for its sleek CR-X-like looks for the twenty-first century and for being the only hybrid where you could row your own gears. Although Honda only gave this sporty hybrid a 130 HP and 127 lb-ft hybrid-electric engine, weighing less than 2,700 pounds, it was just the right amount of power, although journalists and some owners were left wanting more.

Owners typically achieved and exceeded the estimated MPG, drivers averaging well above 38 MPG according to Fuelly. You could have your cake and eat it, too.

Ultimately, it was the lack of power and reluctance from Honda to throw something much hotter under the hood that killed the CR-Z.

With the one sale it begs the question, are their other CR-Zs still squirreled away at some dealership?
