You know he looked at a nearby bag of cement one drunk night, then back at his Buick Skylark

What happens when you live in a densely populated city like San Francisco with nowhere to work on your car but you’ve got some major body damage on your classic car? Well, if you’re like this Buick Skylark owner with zero “you know whats” to give, you grab some free cement mix you have lying around and get to spackling.

Bay Area resident @Cubanobruh_finalstage caught the unbelievable moment when this Buick Skylark owner drove by with regular ol’ Portland Cement used as body filler instead of something like bondo.

Check out the amazing photo of this heavier classic car below.

There’s a reason people use Bondo as a body filler when you want to reuse a body panel instead of buying a new one, Bondo is lightweight when hardened and easy to work with.

Cement, on the other hand, keeps its weight, is heavy, isn’t waterproof, and should never be used in any kind of car repair.

My guess is this dude’s handy with cement, is probably working in construction, and is handy with a portable mixer and a trowel.

It’s no mystery that classic cars have taken a nose-dive in the market. In this condition, probably with a straight six underneath the hood, this Skylark’s probably only worth a couple grand.

But, since it’s pre-72, this owner probably likes that he doesn’t have to smog it every two years and repairs on this Detroit muscle should be relatively cheap.

Replacement body panels, however, are a different bag. Looking on eBay, the home of most cheap replacement body panels from overseas, new Skylark sheetmetal can cost several hundred US dollars. A decent quarter panel is upwards of $330 before tax and shipping.

Someone who dailies a Skylark as old as this one probably can’t take that kind of hit. A bag of Quikrete is only $5 at Home Depot.

Again, I emphasize, no one should ever use cement for any car repair.

Still, from one hundred feet away it looks sort of passable.

San Francisco, one weird city.
