This Chevrolet Silverado driver saw LAPD throw down a spike strip a mile away and avoided it like a pro.

This Chevrolet Silverado driver narrowly avoided running over a spike strip thrown down by Los Angeles Police at the intersection of San Pedro St. and 83rd earlier yesterday (May 22,2020) as he did his best to avoid capture during an over two hour-long pursuit on city streets and on the freeway. With word out that there was a high-speed chase headed in their direction, a handful of brave Los Angelenos went out of their way to capture this footage.

Check out this Silverado driver doing the most to avoid police below.

If you’re fans of the blog, you know I like to include Google Maps street views of the actual location this truck skidded to a stop so check that out below.

According to NBC San Diego in their coverage of the chase, this truck was first reported stolen before police spotted the Silverado in Pomona. After evading police through neighborhoods and city streets, the suspect entered the 110 freeway the wrong way, hit a car, and exited before eventually getting boxed in by another truck shortly after.

Only after one of his tires exploded, after ironically running over another set of spike stripes, did he finally ditch his truck, along with one passenger, and proceeded on foot before eventually getting captured.

You can watch more than an hour of the chase thanks to Fox 11 news below.

Although we don’t condone how reckless this guy was, can I say on that move to avoid spike strips, what an absolute wheelman!

Credit also has to go to whatever brake pads he had on (probably some Duralast Gold Ceramics,) to his sticky tires probably almost overheating, and for that Chevrolet’s ABS system doing the most to keep him steered in the right direction…well mostly.

I’m sure that police officer will throw out his spike strip next pursuit. How embaressing.
